Our first trip to the Doggie ER

Our friends dog Jackson was staying with us on Wednesday night and during a scuffle, Arliss was the unfortunate recipient of a bite. Jackson's tooth punctured Arliss above his right eye. The trauma from the bite caused proptosis. Proptosis is when the eyeball comes out of the eye socket, so the eyelids are trapped behind the globe. I will spare you the gross details, but I will say that we are very lucky because Arliss' opthamologist said that Arliss still has vision in his right eye. We will know more about how much vision loss he sustained in two weeks. That is when we go back for a follow-up visit. Keep your fingers crossed for Arlie!

OMG! That is what I always worry about when Olive is playing with other dogs! They're eyes are just so vulnerable sticking out like that... I'm so glad he's ok. Poor guy!
